Kenneth Rinkenberger Memorial Service

KENNETH GENE RINKENBERGER Marion Kenneth Gene Rinkenberger, 76, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at Cedar Rapids First Assembly at 3233 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, conducted by Pastor Rick Gail. A private family burial will take place at Buckingham Cemetery in Traer, Iowa. Kenneth was born on Aug. 2, 1945, in Peoria, Ill., the son of Cleo and Esther (Perdelwitz) Rinkenberger. He graduated from Davis County High School in Bloomfield, Iowa, and went on to attend Iowa State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Dairy Industry. On July 13, 1968, Kenneth was united in marriage to Jill Dale Ross in Traer, Iowa. He worked in the Dairy Industry, retiring in 2005. Kenneth was a member of Cedar Rapids First Assembly and served on the Mission Board. He was dedicated to his Tuesday morning men’s Bible study. Kenneth served many refugee families from Rwanda and Burundi. He was an avid gardener, reader and cook. He enjoyed traveling locally and internationally. Kenneth loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Kenneth is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Jill Rinkenberger of Marion; four children, Scott (Jennifer) Rinkenberger of Naperville, Ill., Jeremy (Dana) Rinkenberger of Hiawatha, Iowa, Jesse (Sarah) Rinkenberger of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Amy Blott of Marion; 12 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Megan, Riley, Bryce, Ali, Abigail, Gloriah, David, Justice, Stephen, Aria and Kamille; six siblings, Ron (Janice) Rinkenberger of Des Moines, Iowa, Nancy (Roger) Musselman of Hope, Ill., Carol (Dale) Strassheim of Hudson, Ill., Sonia (Mike) Oberman of Mediapolis, Iowa, Janie (Patrick) Bailey of Muscatine, Iowa, and Marsha (Terry) Wilhoit of Batavia, Iowa; brother-in-law, Jack (Joan) Ross; sister-in-law, Judy Martin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Larry Martin. Memorials in Kenneth’s memory may be directed to Cedar Rapids First Assembly of God Church/Kingdom Builders.
