Shelly Rae Huffer of Marion, IA, at the age of 60, passed away unexpectedly on June 15th, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital.
Shelly was born August 17th, 1963, to Joseph F. and Doris L. Floyd in Cedar Rapids, IA. Shelly graduated from Prairie High School in 1981.
After graduating from the Kirkwood Floriculture Program, she became an Iowa Master Florist and worked for many different companies including Cedar Memorial and Ross Driscoll. Later, Shelly became self-employed and ran her own floral business, Lasting Expressions. Her creativity went well beyond her beautiful floral arrangements which included custom cakes, crafts and holiday decor.
Shelly met the love of her life, Dennis Huffer, in high school and settled in Cedar Rapids. They went on to have their three daughters; April and the twins, Brittany and Courtney, and celebrated 38 years of marriage last September.
Shelly had a great love for God, her church, her family and friends. She loved to worship and was involved in many ministries within the church including the Passion Play, women’s ministry and so many more. Shelly helped guide many people toward a relationship with Jesus and counseled many women through life struggles.
Shelly was preceded in death by her parents; Joseph F. and Doris L. Floyd, sisters; Sandra (Rev. Donald) Gail, and Sherry Winters.
Shelly is survived by her husband, Dennis Huffer, Sister; Susan (Leslie) Feyerabend, three children; April (Jermiah) Kruckenberg, Brittany (Jason) Feight and Courtney (Christopher) Ridgway, six grandchildren; Noah, Charlotte, Ruby, Harper, Katherine and Levi, Brother-in-law; Micheal Winters and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, June 24th from 4pm – 6pm, and the memorial service will be Tuesday, June 25th at 10:30am. Both will be at Radiant Church in Cedar Rapids and officiated by Pastor Rick Gail.
